DALE WASSERMAN, born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, has been a professional in theatre since the age of nineteen. A
product of the road and a raffish background, he claims
neither academic discipline nor training. His plays include two which tend to dominate all others: "Man of
La Mancha" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", these two placing him among the most produced American
playwrights worldwide. "Man of La Mancha" ran for five years on Broadway and its career continues without
interruption in more than thirty languages. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" had a six-year run in
San Francisco and has racked up marathon engagements in Chicago, New York, Boston and other cities.
KEN KESEY was born on September 17, 1935 in La Junta, Colorado and in 1946 moved with his family to Springfield,
Oregon. He attended the University of Oregon, earning a degree in Speech and Communications.
Kesey published One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 1962. The novel was an immediate critical and popular success. Kesey
moved to a farm in Pleasant Hill, Oregon to raise his family. He wrote a second novel, Sometimes a Great Notion, as well as
shorter works and compilations, but did not publish his third novel, Sailor Song, until 1992. Kesey died on November 10, 2001.
