CTC is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, founded in 1978. While we have a small staff that takes care of business operations, we are a volunteer-based organization, where all aspects of our productions, on and off-stage, are created by volunteers. We offer a full season of main stage plays performed by the community, for the community. Main stage productions are selected by a volunteer committee that reads dozens of plays each year with the objective of selecting a season of 6 well-written and appealing shows. The goal is to present a season with a balance of genres such as: a comedy, a mystery/thriller,a holiday themed show, a drama, a theatre “classic,” and a musical show complete with live musical accompaniment.
In addition, we produce performances such as limited runs of plays, our NightVisions Series (which showcases local performing artists), staged readings by local playwrights, and dinner theatre at other venues in our community. Our 2011/2012 Season marks our 33rd year of uninterrupted operation.
Services we provide that support performing arts in the region and the community at large include: hosting the Summer Conservatory for the Bend Theatre for Young People; providing the opportunity for other community organizations to utilize the theatre; hosting and sometimes producing short-run theatrical performances by local and out of town artists and playwrights; making costumes, props and set materials available to local community groups and schools; providing casting services to local producers (e.g. independent films, television and radio commercials) and offering the theatre as a venue for filming.
